Edublogs - The world's most popular education blogging service. They have a free version which is sufficient for use by classroom teachers and students. For more advanced features there is a paid version.
Edmondo - Edmodo provides teachers and students a secure place to connect and collaborate, share content and educational applications, and access homework, grades, class discussions and notifications.
EPals - The world's largest K-12 social network, allowing students and classrooms worldwide to connect for a variety of projects.
Glogster EDU - "Poster Yourself!" A private and safe environment for students to create interactive, digital posters. Use digital photos, video, music, and creativity to showcase students' understanding and knowledge on any topic. There is a basic teacher account which is Free. You will receive 50 student accounts in that package. For more features and students you can upgrade for a fee.
Oregon Trail - Remember the "old school" game Oregon Trail on your first home computer? Well you can have your students go retro by downloading this free replica to play one of the original simulator games. Have your students learn how seemingly small decisions can have life and death consequences as they head out West on the Oregon Trail.
StudyLadder - Free accounts for teachers to set up a classroom. Students use a login to access study materials across the curriculum. Resources for elementary aged students through high school are available.
Tagxedo - Another great site to make word clouds. Check out the gallery to see creativity unleashed. This website is a bit more complicated for users than Wordle due to the advanced features.
Voicethread - A VoiceThread is a collaborative, multimedia slide show that holds images, documents, and videos and allows people to navigate slides and leave comments in 5 ways - using voice (with a mic or telephone), text, audio file, or video (via a webcam). Share a VoiceThread with friends, students, and colleagues for them to record comments too.
Wikispaces - Unfortunately right now this is blocked by our school district. However, this is an incredible tool to use with students to collaborate on projects, writing pieces, and have students author their own classroom web presence. Check it out to see all it has to offer.
Wordle - Teachers or students can create word clouds on almost any topic. Customize your Wordle using html color codes, font choices, layout options, and more.
